Rosaline
We are going to have a new feature on the blog where we
introduce some of the staff and community members who work so hard to educate
and care for the children at Galilee Primary and Waddington High Schools.
Today, we would like you to meet Rosaline. Rosaline is an independent seamstress who has
a small one-room shop set up right outside the gates of the school. For the last five years, Rosaline has been
making the uniforms that the children wear to school. She sews shirts, dresses, trousers, skirts,
and shorts for the children at GPS and WHS (sweaters are sourced
elsewhere). She also sells dresses and
other civilian clothing to members of the local community. In addition to being the school seamstress,
Rosaline is also a proud Galilee Primary School parent. She has a child enrolled in the nursery class
at GPS.
Uniforms are always a great gift idea for a sponsored
child. You can purchase a uniform and
support Rosaline’s business at our on-line
shop.
Thanks for the up-close look at the work done in Galilee. It helps me get a better picture of what life is like there. She must be a very hard worker, and she seems quite skilled. // Is there vocational training for seamstress work, and how much does that cost? // Or other vocational tracks, of any kind.. I am curious.
ReplyDeleteGreat post and an great idea to introduce some of the people behind the scenes.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of the uniforms being made in the close neighborhood to the school.
Thank God for Rosaline! I did not know the uniforms were custom made. You all are in my prayers.
