Benard's Story

My name is Benard, an alumnus of Lorna Waddington High School.  I joined Lorna Waddington in 2008 through sponsorship and graduated in 2011 after having satisfactorily completed my Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education.  I managed to score a grade of B+ on the exam and through the support from friends and well-wishers and Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) joined Kenyetta University in 2012 where I pursued a Bachelor's degree in Educations (Arts) specializing in English and Literature.  I completed my University studies in April, 2016 and am waiting to graduate in December.

Honestly, sponsorship has helped me a great deal to acquire education up to this level.  My family is poor and my father could not afford to educate me even in the village secondary school.  Having a sponsor, especially in Lorna Waddington, has allowed me to realize my dreams.  It always made me feel loved and cared for by someone who doesn't even know me.  This motivated me all the more and made me work hard.  I also will sponsor someone in the near future.  Sponsoring a poor child makes them believe in the power of their dreams.  It gives one confidence that there is light at the end of the tunnel.  I am so grateful I was sponsored in Lorna Waddington.  My sponsor used to write me letters of greetings and encouragement.  He could buy me clothes and bedding and that was just awesome.  That love changed my life forever.  Courtesy of sponsorship at Lorna Waddington, I have become the high school teacher I always wanted to be.  Sponsoring a child gives them assurance of a promising future.  In summary I would say, sponsoring a poor child is securing and impacting future generations.  I wish all the Galilee, Holly House, Holly Heart, and Lorna Waddington sponsors long lives full of good health.  Through your hands and goodwill lives are being transformed in Kenya.  God Bless.
